GPU Coloring and Wrap (Maybe?) Help

EmeraldKiwi

So I have a black and red build for my PC, and I made a little something to represent what I'm thinking of (it's attached). I have a few questions since I have never done any modding before:

1. Will coloring/painting my GPU void the warranty?

2. Is Plasti-Dip a considerability? Does it look good? Does it stand up to the heat?

3. Will carbon fiber vinyl wrap be able to stick to the GPU area in the picture even if it is relatively hot?

4. Will I even be able to get the carbon fiber wrap to contour to the little divots and whatnot?

5. Kind of not along the same lines, but if I am going to take the thing apart, should I go ahead and replace the thermal paste? I want to use Arctic Silver 5 because it seems highly revered in the PC world, but my friend said that you shouldn't apply that to a GPU processor because it doesn't have a metal shield like a CPU does, he said it will scratch it. Will it scratch/damage the processor externally if I use this paste?

Thanks for the comments in advance guys! I really like having a zillion people to turn to when I have questions...

I'd go for plasti-dip, plenty of people have used it to paint their GPUs before and it has worked just fine. (Be sure to take the gpu apart before you plasti-dip it.)

Also, you can peel plasti-dip off after applying it, so it shouldn't void the warranty.

I believe it is best to use a non-conductive thermal paste with GPUs, that way if any manages to slip out onto components it shouldn't short anything out.

  1. More than likely
it should be fine, heck even Linus has done itMost vinyl wraps shrink under heat so it might not be the best ideaProbably noti'd use something non-conductive.
