Unidentified network

Go to solution Solved by ReadyToGame,

The computer, except for the ram and dvd-drive was built this Christmas.  I have an Asus z97m Plus motherboard.  We have had the router for about 1.5 years.  We have been having some problems with it since we have had it, such as randomly dropping connection.

I've had some issues like that with my router, but not with that many devices connected at once. You might need to just get a new one, or try and get warranty on it. If it is so persistent with the issues then there has to be something wrong with the router, not the computer or any device connected to it. Just see about getting it fixed/having it replaced via warranty. If that doesn't help then I'd suggest looking for a better router, that is maybe more expensive, so it will fit your needs.

There is a video that Linus made that talks about routers, and what kind of routers are good for what. I suggest taking a quick look on the channel and finding the video, it should help you and it is very interesting at the same time!

Good luck! Feel free to ask me anything else if you still need anything.

I have a Linksys EA6300 router, and recently we have went over probably 20 devices on this router.  Since then, almost every other day my computer will connect to my network(wired connection), but will say it is an unidentified network and will not allow me to access the internet.  This same thing happens when I connect my ethernet cord directly to the modem it does the same thing. Two times now I have had to reinstall my LAN drivers in order to get access.  Would this be a router problem, modem, or possibly something with my computer?  Thank you.

How old the is computer? How old is the router? Judging by the name it looks to be like one of the newer models. When did you buy it?

Downloading programs from CNet is not a good idea, as they will commonly include unwanted, and sometimes dangerous bloatware... The more you know.

Try another router with your machine, swap out a another ethernet cord, etc. look at all the pieces from the network card to the router and troubleshoot each link

I have tested the ethernet cord, but I do not have another router to test. I do think I will try a new router though. Thank you.

Thank you for your help, it probably doesn't help that I have American Broadband either.
