i just overclocked my cpu using gigabytes easytune, i used the auto feature and it got it up 4.7ghz, but when i check with cpuz, and task manenger, it says 3.5ghz, did it even do it anything?

put it under load.  It's base frequency is still probably 3.5 GHz.

so torture test it with prime95 for a bit and see if it updates?

Well that's because it's idling, so it slows down to the base speed. For example, if your car is idling with you sitting in it, is it doing 2-3K RPM? No, it's doing 800RPM. Basically what happens is that when you put it under load it applies your OC.

i started the torture test and its at 4.5ghz, not complaining, but  easytune said 4.7

idk, easytune could be off, or CPU-Z could be off

Probably 4.7 on certain cores but then 4.5 across all 4.

i think your right, intelburntest maxed the cpu at 4.48ghz, and now im installing stuff and running antivirus, and its at 4.69ghz
