Gaming RIG - First build

Tarzan

Hi,

I plan on building my first RIG:

Processor: socket 1150 Intel Core i5 4690K
MotherBoard: socket 1150 MSI Z97-G55 SLI
Memory: Kingston DDR3 2 x 8 Go PC12800 HyperX FURY Black
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 760 OC TF - 2 Go (N760 TF 2GD5/OC)
Case: ZalmanZ11 PLUS
Power Supply: Corsair CX600 Bronze - 600W
HDD: Disque dur interne 3.5 pouces Western Digital WD Black 3,5" - SATA III 6 Gb/s - 1 To (Caviar)
SSD:  SSD Kingston HyperX 3K - 240 Go
DVD Drive: Asus DRW-24F1ST Boite - Noir

So here are my questions:

1/ What do you think of those components? I'm new in building rig, so I can use all advices, mainly on the GPU since I don't really know all the differences (like what does "OC TF N760 TF 2GD5/OC" mean?). I don't play games that need lots of ressources, but I do play on a daily basis and I need a somewhat powerfull rig.
2/ Is a sound card needed besides the one in the motherboard? I also have a headset Sennheiser HD380 Pro.

Thanks a lot,

Tarzan.

for the price of the 760, maybe shell out an extra few bucks for a 280x?

other than that, this seems nice, maybe a nicer psu, try and aim for 80+ gold if you can :D

4690K // 212 EVO // Z97-PRO // Vengeance 16GB // GTX 770 GTX 970 // MX100 128GB // Toshiba 1TB // Air 540 // HX650

Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)

1, The GPU is fine. Maybe you could get a R9 280 instead which should be around the same price range and perform a bit better.

OC = overclocked

TF = twin frozr (cooler design named by MSI)

N760 = GTX 760

2GD5 = 2 GB of GDDR5 memory

2. You probably don't need a sound card. You should listen to the build in sound card first anyway. If it really sounds that bad, which I don't think it will, you can still add a sound card or an DAC/AMP.
