Hello everybody. I believe I am having some problems with my 650 ti OC 1 gb video card. When I game on games such as counterstrike my GPU usage hits 90% almost instantly and after a while it hits 100% my computer freezes sometimes comes back sometimes crashes and gives me problems, it also happens for games such as battlefield 4...

my setup is

asus 650 ti boost 1gb ddr5

intel i7 4770 @3.40GHz

12 gb ram

64 bit windows 8.1

I cannot find my motherboard but it is a dell motherboard

also the cpu usage isnt high and the tempature is fine, the fans dont even go to high.

any help would be nice.. and yes all my drivers have been updated.. Only odd problem is counterstrike was working fine using only at max 80% gpu usage until suddenly, also my rig is dust free.

thats probably accurate , normally my gpu usage goes up to 90% , is your gpu temp too high when it starts to freeze?

No its not an alienware PC. Its a PC i took from friends parts.. ive had it for a few months

Are you sure? It's a Dell motherboard which you cannot buy new (Meaning the PC was stock at one point) and the PC has a non 'k' 4770 which is the standard for Alienware, along with a super underpowered card (650Ti is very common for mid-range Alienware) and a more than needed amount of RAM.

Anyway im going a bit of topic although, Alienware desktops are known to have severe airflow issues.

Check the card temp when it hits load as overheating is more than likely the issue.

Yes a new GPU would almost certainly solve the issue.

I assume this is an Alienware PC.

Check the temperature of the card when under load, using GPU-Z.

X51 if it is, Aurora doesnt have LGA1150

Well maybe gpu usage isn't the problem because I was on my deskstop and my screen went black for 2 or 3 seconds then came back the notification said your kernal driver crashed and then about a minute later it went black and then the input to monitor ended, maybe problem isn't gpu usage also I no games open and gpu was fine in Asus tweak

OMG, I sent my GTX 760 back for this EXACT reason.

I tried everything to fix it.

Nvidia is set to release the GTX 960 soon, that might be within budget.

Also AMD are set to release the R9 300 series soon too.

I'd wait but if you want something that is out now then the R9 280 is a good upgrade, or the GTX 760.
