Hello fellow readers,

I normally use my PC for gaming. Lol and cod4 mostly.

Recently suscribed LinusTechTips youtube channel and forum to find the answare about possible upgrades of my PC.

My Specs:

- Intel i5 2500k, no OC, stock cooler.

- ECS H67H2-M3 (very cheap MB but interesting specs).

- AMD HD6950 2GB

- 4GB DDR3 @1333

- 1 TB HDD 7200RPM

- Corsair 600W PSU.

How can i get the most FPS from this rig without changing the CPU and GPU?

Sometimes im getting fps drops, not constant drop, more like millisecond drops. Can my MB, Ram, HDD, be bottlenecking my PC?

Many THANKS

Another 4gb of ram and then a better gpu

It would also help a lot to overclock your cpu, but you'd want to get a new board and then it starts to get expensive and not really all that worthwhile.

Motherboard>CPU Cooler>GPU/RAM

How bad is that board?...checking...

CPU COOLER>RAM>GPU  Get a mild overclock on the CPU, if that is not enough...then start upgrading RAM/GPU.

Oh, and clean out the DUST!  Try that first.

Thanks everyone for the responses,

Ok,my conclusion: double the ram, OC Gpu a bit, buy cooler to OC CPU, later on upgrade MB and GPU.

I was considering buying a SSD since my HDD has some trouble booting once a while. Do you think it could help the gaming performace too?

Definitely gonna do that tee hee

lol dust, SSD does not really improve FPS much at all, not in 99% of games.  Loading times will be faster.

I have had guys clean out their dusty computers and it solved all the performance issues they were complaining about.

Without upgrading your CPU or GPU you cant really get any more performance. Try getting a new cooler and overclocking, I know the sandybridges were good cpus to overclock.

Also, do get an SSD, b/c while it doesnt give an fps boost, it makes your computer very snappy and you will literally never go back to just hdd.

os reinstall>overclock>more memory>ssd

i don't think your cpu and gpu is slowing the machine down. they're still quite nice.

os

pc specs: 4 function calculator / 8 digit lcd display / colored numeric and function buttons
