Ubuntu and Windows problem

Sobi recently installed ubuntu on my pc alongside windows 8.1 and it says i am able to choose operating system at startup but it just boots straight into Windows. What do i do?

hold shift while clicking reboot. select boot from a different device or something like that. should be the second option down

then select ubuntu

I actually set up my laptop to boot ubuntu like this, and I love it. I main windows 8.1 but have ubuntu when I need it

do you have dual boot setup so that they're on the same drive, or did you install Windows to one drive and Ubuntu to another?

Once you get into ubuntu you need to run

 

sudo update-grub
