Need Opinions on a new build i want to do

Current Rig Specs:

  • i7 3770K @4.5Ghz
  • ASUS P8Z77-V
  • 16GB PNY XClr8 @ 1600MHz
  • Seasonic X1050
  • EVGA GTX 690
  • 1TB Velociraptor as Dump Drive
  • 128GB Crucial M4 as OS Drive
  • 500GB Samsung 840 EVO as Gaming Drive
  • Cooler Master HAF-X Blue Edition
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

New Rig Specs 1 of 2:

  • i7 4790K or i7 5770K (depending on broadwell release). Maybe even a Skylake 6770K depending on when i build it
  • ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Mark 1
  • 16GB G.Skill or Corsair @ 2133MHz
  • Seasonix X1050
  • GTX 970/980
  • 1TB SSD
  • Corsair Carbide Air 540
  • Corsair H100i Modified (new fans)

New Rig Specs 2 of 2:

  • i7 5820K or i7 5930K
  • ASUS X99 Deluxe
  • 8GB G.Skill or Corsair @2400MHz
  • Seasonic X1050
  • GTX 970/980
  • 1TB SSD
  • Corsair Carbide Air 540
  • Corsair H100i Modified (new fans)

I do some video rendering and play alot of Arma 3 (CPU Intensive game) so just looking for a second opinion. Also not very impressed with the 690 causing me microstutters and other SLI issues so im planning on selling that and buying either a 970 or 980 (I miss having a single GPU  :( ). And yes, i do plan on overclocking

your main rig is still hella powerful... why even upgrade?

at most, throw in a new gpu NVM, thought it said 680... its a 90.

4690K // 212 EVO // Z97-PRO // Vengeance 16GB // GTX 770 GTX 970 // MX100 128GB // Toshiba 1TB // Air 540 // HX650

Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)

If you're rich.. geeze I guess, but don't get the first rig.  I see absolutely no point in that.

Honestly, if you do a lot of rendering, etc, then I see no harm in getting the 58XX machine, that would honestly be a decent performance improvement.  Still, that is incredibly expensive.
