This is the build i have in mind i curently have half the parts including the cpu ram mobo and case. I want to overclock my g1 970s to 1500mhz. i saw these setting and i was wondering what temps would i get cuz i dont want my things to be super hot and throttle. I would have 2 140mm fans at the front and 2 at the top with the cpu cooler coming at the back. These were the settings

  • Temp Target 80 Degrees C
  • GPU clock +150 MHz
  • Power limiter 112%
  • Mem clock +500 MHz
  • Volatge + 87Mv
  • FAN RPM default

Default fan rpm, you will reach 80 without an issue. Not much detail at all, what case, cards and mobo? The case fans are gone be at "default" too? Every card can get to 80 at a default fan profile. Wouldn't recommend it thought.

Also, there is no possible way to judge what overclock you are going to get. By all means your card could be unstable at 1450mhz

Please do never take anyone elses results in terms of OCing and try to apply that on your own hardware. Every ASIC is different and therefore this GPU of yours could be totally OC different. You need to dial in the card with time, step by step and the right software.

You can never know if a person runs a standard BIOS version or a modded one. I.e. I do run a modded BIOS for my GTX980 3way SLI for each card and I have a card that boosts stable up to 1601MHz... it took countless hours to dial the GPUs in correctly to create a stable scenario.

Seems like you went real cheap on the case, hope you get some real fans. Those open air coolers in sli are horrible, you will have slot between the cards which isn't too bad. Regardless of your oc, hitting 80 under load should happen no matter what. Gonna be a real hot box.

do you have any ideas on how i can get it cooler or as cool as possible without getting a blower card. Cuz the only 1 i know is the reference and i heard the g1 has the best overclock reputation and i will need as much power as i can get since i am running 4k

Really nice case fans and never using the default fan profiles on the gpus or the mobo if you use its headers. That case did seem decent when I watched the video but maybe removing the hard drive cages for better flow. That h80 will run a tad hotter is its ran as exhaust too, with all that case heat. I would suggest a better case if possible.

Going off the case lay out, I would get 2 140's for the front, move or replace the stock 120 to the back and change out the h80 for a h100. Or use the h80 in the back, get 1 more 120 fan and put it in the top with the included fan and get two 140's for the front.

If your gonna spend 30 bucks on a corsair 140, I would go with a better brand if possible. I haven't used anything besides corsair and noctua but they are much better.

its a dual pack, and i was planning to use the hd80 as the exhaust fan and use 2 140 at the top and 2 140 at the front as intake fans

According to the pic of your case on the link, it only supports 120's on the top. So either go with 120's all around or have better airflow at lower speeds with putting the 140's in the front. Only having one 120 exhaust might cause the case to hot box, and it will directly affect the temp of your cpu by doing so. Just get enough fans for the case so you can test which will be best for exhaust and intake once its all put together.

Also just noticed, putting the h80 in the back you wont be able to fit two fans on the top. Just going by the pictures on newegg or course, but it seems limited.

alright i will thanx but for the front should i use static pressure fans? and airflow at the top

should i try and get a h100 and use the top as an out take then?

Yea like I said, H100 as exhaust and move the stock case 120 fan to the back and pick up some new fans for the front, Im using static fans as intake.

so should i use the h80i and the top as the air out?

Not gonna matter is its on the back or top. I cant say for sure to use it as intake or exhaust. If you get good fans for the front, need to maintain some sort of positive air pressure. I imagine those 970's are supposed to run some what cool. Go with on set up then switch the fans around and monitor the temps to see which is better.

Thinking too far ahead right now not having any of the components in hand.
