4K Downscaling

Hi, was just wondering if it is possible to downscale from 4K to lower 16:9 resolutions? I'd assume it would work because they all fall under the same aspect ratio?

 

[PC]: i7 4790k @4.1GHZ, EVGA SC GTX 980, HyperX Beast 16GB RAM, Asus Z97-I, NH-L12, WD Green 1TB, Kingston 120GB SSD, Corsair 250D

Yes, it would. Have the scaling be perfect... no it would most likely not be perfect.

I regularly run 1440 on my 4k it looks better than 1080

 

I run it for FC4 - where I cant get enough frames @ 4k, and also in League of Legends, because the UI does not scale...

Ok thanks very much- rocking a similar setup to you, so i just wanted to know, are you able to tackle most games @4K @ Mid Settings @60 FPS? Currently running mITX however, I may sell the MOBO and Case and go up to mATX to grab another 980 for higher quality @4K.
