Hello.

Earlier today I was rerouting cables in my computer and when I was done it looked good. But when I went to turn the computer on it couldnt find boot disk. So after cracking the case open I switched my Optical Drive power cord with my HDD cord. It worked again but when I followed the cord I saw the original HDD power cord was unplugged from power supply for when I rerouted cables and forgot to plug it back up. I feel like a moron. Thought I broke it. Anyone else do something like this?

Yep. Missing those damn front panel connectors always causes a panic. 

 

Hell, just forgetting to flip the switch on the back of the PSU can give me a heart attack

I once was snipping a plastic tie wrap and clipped the power cord on my hdd causing a cut in the plastic sleeve. I thought it was all fine and dandy .... 1 hdd later I learned that the smallest nick can cause a spark on a metal hdd cage and ruin a hdd.

Last summer I tossed out a 2.5 + 3.5" hotswap bay because it always needed a reboot before it would see the disks and hence was useless to me.

Yesterday I was messing around in the BIOS and suddenly noticed that each of my SATA ports could have hotswap-ability set individually ... and that they all were disabled.

I was cutting cable cords and cut a cable on an old pc I was refurbing - thank god it was one of the ancient connectors that are never needed now...
