Replacement keyboard for Logitech UltraX

Today I am using a Logitech UltraX keyboard that I am very happy with. I like the silent and low profile keys. I use it for both gaming and writing.

The space bar and W, E keys are starting to go so I need to look for a replacement keyboard. I have had this keyboard for many years and it has served me well :P

I am willing to pay for quality, so is there a mechanical keyboard that have what I'm looking for (low profile and silent), or can only a membrane keyboard offer this? Do you have any recommendation(s) i can consider?

Thank you :)

Quiet and mechanical don't really go together. There are Cherry MX Red switches but I personally prefer a good membrane keyboard like my spare Belkin F8E206 over them.

Thank you.

Been looking at some Steelseries Raw and I do like them for the subtle back lighting, although I have no need for macro keys :).

The Belkin looks more like an old school keyboard, which is cool. Do they have low profile keyboards you can recommend?

Oh and the keyboard I'll be looking for need to be USB.

If you were to get a mechanical keyboard though, browns switches would definitely be quieter because there will be a bump where you won't bottom out as easily. As of reds switches, they would be louder because you wouldn't know where to stop your keystroke since there won't be a bump to tell you when you have actually actuated the key so you would almost always bottom out. (Bottoming out is the loudest sound you can make on a mechanical keyboard where as bumps make a decently subtle sound. The sound of a click is a sound that you would find from a switch like the blue switch and it's other variants.)

Cool! I fallen in love with the K70 aluminum chassis. Can I understand from the above that when I have found the style of keyboard I like, the only thing is to have the correct switches? The difference between the makers are the macro keys, software and backlight?

You're not supposed to bottom out on reds.

Ya, most of what you said. The K70 should be fine, but look online for the different switches. Brown switches are good but you can choose any switch since there is technically no best switch, it is all up to preference. But, I'd say that the browns are like the jack of all trades master of none while something like blues are usually better for typing and may not be the best for everyone when gaming.
