Hi there,

My friend has experienced this problem for the past week or so with his desktop PC, and I can't for the life of me work out what is wrong with it. My initial reaction was that the BIOS was completely corrupted - is that a possibility? The photo below shows you exactly what is showing on the screen when I turn the PC on.

The bios is fine. This is an issues with windows. When this happened to me my only option was to reformat windows. Not sure if there is a way to fix it otherwise.

The issue is, I'm not getting a BIOS screen at all which means I can't adjust boot devices etc and ensure the hard drive is the correct format. The system is also failing to boot to my Windows installation disk.

Unplug all drives connected to the motherboard and clear the Bios by removing the CMOS battery or use the Clear CMOS bottom/switch if you have one.

could have been a loose cable, bad cable or bad port.

I checked all the internal and external cables before posting on here. I tried to rule as many things out as possible that I could have tried.

not familiar with the screeny at top.......... rarly pay attention to any of them.......... have another computer you can hook the drive to to chack integrity?

Unfortunately not. I did have a couple of spare machines but one got given away and the other got sold for parts.

The only desktop currently in the house is the desktop in question. I don't even have a 3.5" SATA USB connector.

I've done this, I'm still getting the same screen when it gets turned on.

Have you tried using a different drive in all? Like a different HDD?

Yeah, I've just swapped out the HDD for one I had lying around (it does work) and I'm still getting the same screen as I was initially.

This is solved now - I managed to exit out of it somehow and reset the BIOS back to default settings. It's now installing Windows as it should be.
