So I built my computer about a week ago and everything was fine and I was able to play some games on steam, but I got Crysis 3 for free with my graphics card and it was for origin.  So I downloaded it and decided to try it out today and I was able to play through the tutorial just fine but when I started to play the game after about 5 or 10 minutes my entire computer restarted.  I thought that maybe it was over heating so I played it again but this time on lower settings and checked temperatures throughout and it crashed again, but the temperatures never went past about 70 for my gpu and 45 for my cpu.  Then I thought maybe speedfan was causing the problem so I uninstalled it and then tried to play again, but it still crashed and the temperatures never went past 70 and 45.  My system is not overclocked.  I have no idea what is going on.  I've tried doing a little research but haven't come up with anything.  Is this just a problem with Origin? Crysis?  Thanks for the help and if you need anymore information just ask.

Thanks,

Z3R0

It would be helpfull if you could list you specs.

Some of the reasons could be:

  • A faulty overclock on the CPU and/or GPU
  • A PSU with too little power
  • A loose power connection to the motherboard and/or GPU

If you are using any extension cables I would suggest trying without them. Did the GPU come with any factory overclock? I have seen factory overclocks that were not stable. And since your PSU seem well above the maximum power for the system I would recommend double checking every cable to the motherboard and GPU

I just check all of my cables and when I barely touched my 24-pin my computer shut down.  I then noticed that there was a lot of strain on the cable and it wasn't entirely seated right.  So I gave it more slack and reseated it.  Then I checked all of my other cables and they seemed fine.  I'm going to try and play again and see what happens.  Thanks for the help and I'll come back with an update later on.  Hopefully it's good.
