Hello

So Im having troubles with ENB's freezing my Skyrim, though I have enboost and SKSE/memory patch. When I view the memory block log I can see that it isn't reaching it's max size, so I don't think it's memory related. Also if I just run ENB v. 2.64 without a preset, I can spawn 1000 guards and go around exploring stuff with no freeze or crashes.

I've uninstalled all other mods and reinstalled my skyrim files/deleted all files manually. I've got no idea if it's something I'm doing wrong, or just something with ENB's.

Does anyone have any light to be shared on this?

Thanks for your time.

The question stands on whether or not you're installing it right. Skyrim will also crash even if it doesn't hit the marked memory limit. The ENB might also be conflicting with ENB boost, though I don't need or use ENB boost so this is a shot in the dark. Memory patch might also be doing because I think I went to use it but saw people complain about crashing but I'm also unsure as with ENB boost.

I run ENB's with a R9 280x, many graphics enhancing 2k mods and all that good stuff and manage to never crash. Hell I even installed my ENB very improperly the first time and the game ran. So this is extremely off.

Knowledge is power, guard it well.

Yes, might be something I've done wrong at the installation. I'll have another look, but it seems rather weird that it is the preset that triggers it.

Update:

Still doesn't work, I followed gophers instructions and it still freezes when spawning 100 guards.

I had an issue with my new PC when trying to get ENB to work.  The game would crash after the Bethesda logo whenever I tried using ENB.  Turns out that I needed to manually download and install the latest DirectX runtime.  If that's not your issue, you could try using ENB Manager and Changer to install your ENB preset, not sure it will help, but it may potentially help you install it correctly.

EDIT: why are you spawning 100 guards? Are you trying to stress test the game for instability?   Check your framerates with ENB off, on and whilst spawning guards.  It is possible that spawning that many NPCs with the ENB on is too demanding for the game or your system to handle.

If you're stress testing the game, I prefer to set my speedmult to 500, activate god mode and turn on no clipping then run from Helgen>Whiterun Outskirts>Rorikstead>Dragon Bridge>Morthal, as I find my game is more likely to crash when loading new cells/assets than any situation where I'm going to find 100 NPCs in one area.

I don't use ENB boost at all and my Skyrim runs pretty smoothly with about 150 mods or so. I use RealVision and you have to ensure that you run the install and set the ini file properly. Could be the Ugrids (loading distance scenes causing crash and such) or other properties in the ini that your computer cannot handle. I have a setup very similar to TW1STER.

Yes, stress testing. I've just tried doing it again, spawning 600 guards and my framerate when overlooking all of them was about 13. Then I walked around for a minute and the game froze at 27 fps with sound still playing.

I'm gonna try to use ENB manager and run around without spawning npc's and see what happens.

Have you tried anything more realistic when compared to normal gameplay, say 50~ NPCs and then running around and seeing if it crashes/freezes?  I don't see the game being stable for anyone at 600 NPCs - the engine itself is hardly stable enough to handle it even with amazing hardware to back it up.  I'm not really sure why you're testing this though.  Are you using any mods that spawn ridiculous amounts of NPCs?

I came across gopher's video on stability where he spawned 300 npc's at the harbor without crashing/freezing, figured it might be as good a stress test as any.

If the game runs stably without that insane amount of NPCs I wouldn't worry about it.  That video was really more of just attempting to prove that the memory patch works.  Real life applications will vary greatly between people, load orders, and system hardware.  Try my stress test out, see if the game is stable.  If it is you shouldn't have a problem in normal gameplay.  Even if you're using Civil War Overhaul, I doubt you're going to get anywhere near 600 active NPCs in one cell at a time.

The game seems pretty stable when running around, I tried with speedmult 1500 and ran just about the whole map with no freezes and no barely any stutter. I think I'll try adding mods and see what happens, thanks for your time :)
