Disabling APU Graphics

Go to solution Solved by iZomgX3,

Okay so gonna bump this cause it hasn't been solved yet.

I'm gonna refer to some quotes in the original post though to keep from unnecessary bumping.

Turns out it's working with games like Sanctum 2, but it's not running with games like LoL or osu!.

No clue why though still.

Turns out Catalyst Control Center was installed which screwed everything up.

So I recently got a new motherboard and CPU. Exchanged the CPU cause turns out most boards need a BIOS update before they can use the 860k, so now I'm using the 5800k.

The board I'm using is the MSI A88xM and the graphics card is a GTX650.

I cannot turn off the APU graphics for some reason though. I've checked using Afterburner and whenever I launch a game the GPU might hit 20% usage but the first core on the APU will usually be at 100%

In device manager for display adapters the only listed item is the GTX650 and in the BIOS when I get to the integrated graphics section all I get is a screen on which I can't change anything. I've looked around for tricks to access a hidden BIOS but nothing worked (CTRL+F1 and stuff like that)

The only thing I've done is overclock the thing to 4.0GHz

Please help~~ I can't even get 60FPS in League of Legends haha.

Oh also in AMD Catalyst the APU seems to be treated strictly as a CPU as there are only overclocking options and nothing to do with the graphics portion.

I know it seems like it should be working properly but my GPU doesn't fire up at all. and getting 40FPS in LoL on "Very High / No Shadows" when using only 20% GPU but 100% of core 1 seems like the integrated graphics to me.

Normally get 80 (capped at 80)

Current Specs

AMD A10-5800k

MSI Gaming A88XM

EVGA GTX650

8GB Patriot Viper 3 1600mhz

Corsair CX500M

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 8MB Cache 5900RPM (...ikr?)

Previous to this the only notable changes were having an i3-2120 (changed cause needed more cores on a budget) and motherboard was an Asus P8H61-M LE/CSM

Disable onboard graphics in the bios and also disable it in device manager

Please at least read the post first. It doesn't show up in device manager and I can't disable it in BIOS for some reason.

Did you return the 860K and used the 5800K with your GPU?

you could have updated the BIOS of the mobo with the 5800k inside

then switch out to the 860K and run from the GTX650 graphics

also is the monitor cable plugged to the mobo or GPU?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Yeah, latest drivers and BIOS installed.

I know, but this guy at NCIX was being a dick and out for money only haha, cause neither of my parts were defective they would charge a 15% restocking fee for the 860k and I couldn't get them to update the BIOS cause the didn't "have any older FM2 CPUs on hand." so if I switched it back out for the 860k I would probably just be losing a lot of money.. Actually not really cause the 5800k is a lot more expensive than the 860k. Maybe I will return it and pay the restock fee.

Using DVI and it is plugged into the GPU.
