X58 Sabertooth reboot

Go to solution Solved by Kolamur,

Ok, I have found out that a low to dead cmos battery can cause random reboots on a sabertooth X58 board

I have a x58 Sabertooth think i have had it 5 years maybe little less. When I turn on the computer it reboot before i even see the bios boot like 3 times before it boots normally. the speck should be down below. Just wondering if anyone else had these problems, cause mine just started couple of days ago.

This could be caused by a number of things. I would start by flashing BIOS and see if it improves anything. If that doesn't fix it, remove hardware components (GPU, hard drive, RAM, etc...) one by one and boot without them to make sure none of them are causing your issue. I've had something similar happen to me a while ago and in my case it was a hard drive / Marvell SATA controller issue.

Desktop:     Core i7-9700K @ 5.1GHz all-core = ASRock Z390 Taichi Ultimate = 16GB HyperX Predator DDR4 @ 3600MHz = Asus ROG Strix 3060ti (non LHR) = Samsung 970 EVO 500GB M.2 SSD = ASUS PG279Q

Notebook:  Clevo P651RG-G = Core i7 6820HK = 16GB HyperX Impact DDR4 2133MHz = GTX 980M = 1080p IPS G-Sync = Samsung SM951 256GB M.2 SSD + Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD

Try re-flashing the BIOS.

If there is an update available for the motherboard try to flash it.

Reset the BIOS settings and see if that helps.

Think I am going need to replace but the new board pretty expensive for a fist gen core i7. problems progressively getting worse.

Ok somebody answer this can the reboot be cause by a dead or low power CMOS battery? I have not changed since I got the MB.

Times it will not boot at all it will just freeze. to the point I cannot get into the bios

not sure but worth a try since the battery can be bought for cheap

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
