Sorry if i have not included all of the information that you need. I can gladly provide more.

Computer has worked fine since I bought it. Loved it. About a week after assembly, my computer stopped USING the GPU. It still recognized it, but wouldnt use it. My computer wouldnt even let me push my screen resolution higher than 1024x768. At the same time it did this, my boot time slowed down CONSIDERABLY, and no longer displayed the BIOS splash screen, or the "Loading Windows" screen. Black screen right up until the Windows log in screen. Fixed the GPU issue by uninstalling the drivers, changing displays, removing the card, putting it back in, and reinstalling the drivers. Didn't solve the boot time issue though. But things were working fine. Heard there was a faulty Windows update, so I turned my updates off, thinking that might have been an issue.

Came home today. Old problem is back. No BIOS. No Loading. And the computer recognizes but doesnt seem to want to USE the GPU. PLEASE HELP. I will answer any questions. Or phone calls. Or skype. Whatever. I REALLY want my computer working again.

Thank you so much.

remove the GPU and see if you can boot to BIOS using the mobo's onboard display output

load the secondary fail safe BIOS and see if that work

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

GPU is sitting on the table next to me. I tried shutting down, and starting it back up again. Saw the Loading screen this time, but still a slower than it SHOULD be boot time, and no BIOS splash screen. Even tried just mashing F2, F12, and DEL keys, just in case the display was so fast I was missing it. Couldnt get the computer to boot to the BIOS.

PS. I am not as "tech savvy" as the rest of you, so even if I HAD managed to boot to the BIOS, I'm not entirely sure how to "load the secondary fail safe BIOS".

reset the BIOS by removing the shiny button battery on your mobo leave it empty and the power unplugged for 5 mins and place it back in

do you mean the thing that looks like a slightly large watch battery in the middle of the MOBO (inbetween the PCI slots)? Unplug the computer, take that out, leave it for a minute or so, replace the batter, plug it back in, and fire it up?

yea that the battery

unplug from the power socket

leave it for a few mins

put back the battery

plug in power cable

power on

With the GPU in the computer does device manager show the display adapter as "generic graphics display" or something that sounds similar? If you can click start, type event viewer and then expand critical and errors tabs. You'll want to look for anything that has happened on that boot up. So anything in the 1 hour ago column. If any of them have Nvd in the name those are usually related to a faulty nvidia driver. Though any of them could be relevant so I'd recommend posting them too.

Ok. I made it to the bios. Now what? It says that the BIOS has been reset, and asks me how to continue:

Load optimized defaults then boot

Load optimized defaults the reboot

Enter BIOS

It crashes. Showed "Missing Operating System" message, turned off, turned back on, and went straight to the bios.

"Boot failure detected

The system has experienced a boot failure possibly due to incorrect configuration. Previous settings in BIOS may not be compatible with current hardware state

Current cpu speed: 4400.97 MHz

Current BCLK: 100.2 MHz

Current memory speed: 1333.62 MHz"

Same options as before. Btw, the GPU is still on the table. Does that matter?

go into BIOS

make sure AHCI is enabled

revert back to the stock clocks for the CPU speed to 4GHz

44 is the default multiplier on a 4790k.

drop it to 40

AHCI will be under advance settings

Still don't see AHCI. Closest things are XHCI Mode, and then XHCI hands off and EHCI hands off. XHCI mode is set to smart auto (all of this is underneath the Peripherals section of the BIOS

Can you pick out (upload here) the image that best matches the BIOS on your motherboard? I will look into finding a guide.

Ok, it looks like it is under peripherals and you're looking for the 4th line of blue text called "SATA mode selection". You should be able to see it here on the picture.

You'll want to make sure that is set to ACHI. It also wouldn't hurt to make sure it is booting from the right hard drive. In BIOS Features tab should be a list of boot options. Which ever hard drive you installed Windows on you'll want to select as the first drive. So if you 1 TB is your Windows drive vice versa if the 2 TB is the Windows drive.

I don't know about the RAID thing, and I don't have a spare PC. And I have to go out of town for two days, so I won't be able to mess with it until probably Thursday. I might just have to take it in somewhere. I have only had this for a month and a half....I need it to work....

From my experience when it says missing operating system the drive died ( or is dying) or the Windows installation got corrupted. Considering you were having what sounded like display driver errors it is probably closer to the corrupted Windows.
