2D Game Engine

Hello! I am looking for a good easy to use 2D game engine that I could use to make cross platform games. I'm currently looking at stencyl and I really like what I've seen so far. Any other recommendations?

 

BTW, I'm pretty new to game design and I have only just recently started working with Unreal Engine 4. And even though UE4 does have a 2D template, I'd like to look at other options as well.

Just a normal guy with a constant desire to modify everything he owns.
