Once I start gaming, my EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX ramps it's fan speed up to nearly 70% (Pretty loud honestly) and reaches 80c. 80c seems to be the limit, as it never goes higher than that (I'm pretty sure that's the thermal limit). This is the first time I've ever had a high end card like this, just wondering if this is normal? Keep in mind it's not ALL games, just graphically intensive ones like Far Cry 3 or benchmarking tools like Unigine Heaven. If I play games with well over 60fps I just put VSYNC on and it never reaches such temps.

My 780 got into the high 70's when i was testing some heavy overclocks but now that i have a pretty modest one it rarely goes past high 60's.

Your temps seem pretty high if its stock, as Droidxd00d said maybe a fans/case issue?

Yea, my EVGA GTX 780 SC used to hit the mid 70s when playing a really intense graphically game.

Did the G10 modification and now I never even see 50C.

You can learn more about the G10 mod in my guide here, as well as see some pictures.

Well i got a CoolerMaster N400 case with 2 120mm fans on the front and one on the back, no cable clutter at all in the main area of the case (All in the back) and ambient room temperature is really really cool... It doesn't even take long for it to reach 80c, it does it in almost 30 seconds just sky rockets under heavy load.

Idle temps for reference is 35-40c with 39% fan speed (Low as ACX cooler will go)
