How do I update my bios?

Go to solution Solved by Jade,

wow okay thank you both that was very helpful, my followupquestion is now: Do I need to do this for ever update that was released or can I just grab the latest and update it?

You can just grab the latest version and update. :)

Hi, I've never updated my bios and I've had this motherboard since 2011... Didn't know what it meant or how to do it. Until about a year ago. But not until now I've actually got my thumb out my ass to get to it.. :)

I tried googling it first but didn't quite understand...

I would be more than happy if someone could help me!

I'm using an Asus P8z68-v le motherboard with a 2500k & gtx 970. Running W8.1 on a 64GB ssd from Adata.

Thank you!

Very SImple order

  1. Download the BIOS update .CAP file from your Motherboard Manufacturer Site for your MB
  2. Save it in a location you know how to navigate to.
  3. Boot to BIOS
  4. Find the area to Flash/Update BIOS
  5. Navigate and Select the BIOS.CAP File
  6. Let it Update
  7. Done :)

Unless you're having issues with your motherboard, there's no reason to update it. Anywho,

Yeah as @Jade said, Only the Latest one, When updating the BIOS it will delete the old one and install the new one with everything needed.

Check the CD you have that came with the MB. Maybe they dont have the rights with the software anymore for that MB. Fan Xpert comes with AI Suit 1/2/3 etc

If I'm not mistaken, it's part of AI Suite, which should be in the "Utilities" section of 'Driver and Tools'. Change it to whatever OS you're using and here it is.

One more thing, i tried to update the BIOS. I downloaded said file, unpacked it, put it in my download folder, rebooted went into bios and blablabla but then when i clicked on it it said "Not a valid EFI BIOS file" or something similiar... any ideas?
