Excessive much?

EDIT: Don't go past two Titans and get a AX1200i instead with the custom sleeved cables. The NEX1500 didn't get the best reviews on jonnyguru, and I trust that website. Also, 64GB of RAM is of no use to you, unless you want to make a RAMDisk. And if this is your first build, then you're really in for some watecooling trouble. Start with something more conservative; if you can afford that rig, you surely can afford something smaller.

Desktop: Intel Core i7-5820K, Corsair H115i, Asus X99-Deluxe/USB 3.1, G.Skill Ripjaws4 32GB 2800MHz CL16, Zotac RTX 3070, Samsung 950 Pro 512GB in Angelbird Wings PX1, Samsung 850 EVO 1TB, 5*Seagate 12TB, Cooler Master V1200, Phanteks Enthoo Luxe, Windows 10 Pro. Phillips 328P6VUBREB, Corsair Vengeance K95 RGB Cherry MX Brown, Logitech G502 X Plus, Sennheiser HD700.

AYANEO 2S: AMD 7800U, 32GB 7500MHz, 2TB WD SN850X. Windows 11.

Waste of money. I really don't see why people want an "Ultimate Gaming PC" when they can build a "Reasonable Gaming PC" for half as much and still get near the same speed. For example that 3970X will not make your FPS any higher then a 3570K will. 64GB of ram is a waste of money because most gaming PC's wont use anywhere over 4-6GB of ram even when playing hardcore games so 8-16GB is enough. It's been proven that a GTX780 performs almost as good as a Titan for much less so buying 4 Titans is stupid its only for bragging rights. The rest of the system is fine your not spending 1000$ on a single part.

To be fair, he never said it was a gaming PC.

That said, it's definitely overkill. But I would buy something similar if I was rolling around in millions of dollars.

Are you rolling around in millions of dollars? Also yes he did in the title.

CPU:i7 3970x Waste of money for anything other than 3d rendering

RAM:CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 2133 Mhz 64GB(8x8GB) waste of money in general

MOTHERBOARD:ASUS RAMPAGE VI EXTREME

STORAGE:SAMSUNG 840 PRO 512GB SSD x2 Again, waste of money

GRAPHICS CARD:ASUS GTX TITAN 6GB x4 Get 2 or 3 780s and OC them

CASE:CORSAIR 900D

POWER SUPPLY:EVGA SUPERNOVA CLASSIFIED 1500W WAY overboard

KEYBOARD:CORSAIR VENGEANCE K95

MOUSE:CORSAIR VENGEANCE M65

MONITOR:DELL U3014 x3

This build for the most part is very over the top and unbalanced and un general a waste of money. especially if it is just gaming and and regular editing. I was planning a build somewhat similar to this and im happy i didnt stick with it because now that i have learned more i know how much of a waste it is.and why on earth would you go 100%SSD storage?

True.

No, I'm not, but he could be.

Obviously this person has done enough research to know that it's a waste of money - but then, so is buying a fast car when you can't legally exceed the speed limit. Purpose doesn't factor in, in some cases.

Use Bitspower fittings and Primochill Advanced LRT tubing of the appropriate dimension.

Ok true buying a fast car is a waste of money but that doesn't mean you shoudl still buy one just because you want it. A powerful pc shoudl only be used/built when you actually need that power because you could actually take sue of it but for gaming this pc is a waste. maybe it would be good for a workstation but in the title he said gaming pc.

At 7680 x 1600 resolution, quad-SLI Titans is actually a reasonable choice. The extra memory in Titans can be utilized.

1500W is probably a necessary overhead for this build. I would probably get two 750W PSUs, though, over a single 1500W PSU.

Dominator platinums are mainly for looks, and he appears to want to fill all DIMM slots, which isn't really a waste of money - it's just an aesthetic choice.

I can't see why the two 512GB SSDs would be a waste of money. As long as they're used.

As for the i7-3970X, yes it is a waste of money - but it does remove the CPU as a bottleneck as much as possible.

I'm just playing the devil's advocate here, but realistically if you wanted the ULTIMATE rig (for any reason - including pure bragging rights) this is pretty damn close.

I disagree with the 1500w PSU personally but that is subjective. And i know that dom platinums are just for looks but he said ultimate, why not get a set of the 3000mhz ram then? and the 512 ssds are a waste imo because i think, get one and spend the rest of the money on HDD space, you can store more games and for multiplayer games ssds dont help really at all.

I assume he intends to RAID the SSDs.

Either way though, i would get a smaller ssd and a crap ton of hdds, because like i said, multiplayer games dont get much if any boost with ssd and even single player its not noticable enough, and within a little while that 1tb of ssd will be gone. I would go 240 or stay 512 ssd and get hdd the rest of the way and partition off a little for caching the hdds.

If you're really going to buy that rig, don't with a Maximus IV Extreme, buy the ASUS P9X79-E, supports 4-way SLI or CrossfireX @ x16 Link
