cpu overclocking

Go to solution Solved by EcoBoost,

enquiry i've got a intel pentium anniversary edition unlocked and i want to overclock it a little maybe to 4.2 or 4.4 so i was wondering ive read a fuw forms do you have to have a motherboard that supports overclocking if so will my board support it ive got a gigabyte g1 sniper b5 so anyone?

You'll need to download and flash the latest BIOS onto your motherboard for the best overclocking ability with the G3258.

Turn up voltage to 1.3V, then raise CPU core multiplier/ratio to 42 (4.2 GHz), stress test and see if it's stable. If it is, change it to 44 (4.4GHz) then stress test again. If it's still stable, congrats. If not, go back to 42.

yeah hay everyone

Isn't 1.3v a littel bit too much for just 4.2-4.4. he has a Pentium

Best balance between stability and reliability. Also it will not be 1.3V all the time, system will dynamically adjust voltage as to what it will need.

yeah im not using that much i knew that was a litle high its ok =D cheers

If it's good at 4.4GHz, then try turning back voltage to stock and see if it's still stable. If it is then you can just leave it at 4.4 stock voltage.

Yep it's fine. It's one of the B85 boards with "unofficial" overclocking ability
