So i encountered a rather weird bug today with my new monitor. I got a new 144hz BenQ xl2411z to be my main display, setting aside my old one as secondary. I wanted to show the difference between 144 and 60hz, so i duplicated the display, the res was messed because they were different (1920x1080 and 1680x1050). I ran cs:go and showed, then i left for a bit and reset it to extend current display. When i came back both screens were black (as if getting signal but no display). I restarted and tried again but it failed and the black screens showed up again. I really want to use both displays but i can only use one at a time, i am using the BenQ right now. Incase it may be driver related i have AMD RADEON R9 290 GA Windforce x3 with a small factory overclock. The driver is the latest Catalyst Driver (14.12).

connect each monitor seperately and set the resolution on both to 1680x1050@60hz even on the benq monitor

then connect both and I would expect that you will then have both displays running at that resolution.

at this point set the benq to 1920*1080@144p extended.

just a guess but i suppose worth a shot

Wish I'd thought of that.

Sig under construction.

No luck. I tried to do what you said but it pulled the same thing :\ Not a huge deal as the monitor I paid 279$ is working fine!
