Hi,

So I ripped out a HDD from an old external HDD a few months back, and now I've got a PC with SATA connections, I want to see if it works (for storing crap). I think it may be statically charged though, after being touched multiple times by me with socks on, and on carpet etc. If it is, will it damage my PSU?

Dankeschon (I cba to find the umlaut :P)

If you know for a fact it's statically charged, I wouldn't risk plugging it in if I were you but I'm pretty nervous about that kinda stuff. However if the only reason you think it might be charged is because you touched it with socks on and stuff, then chances are it's fine and I wouldn't really worry about it. HDDs are actually pretty protected against ESD.

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?
