Livestreaming

Go to solution Solved by Kayn,

you can try very fast and see if it will help which I think I might and try lowering the FPS from 60 to 45 and see if that will help. Try faster since you went from very fast to fast which is a two preset skip and since you have an 3930k it should be able to handle that.

I'm streaming in 1080p on twitch.tv  with the "Fast" preset, 9 quality, 4000 bitrate, and a 4500 buffer bitrate. (xsplit)

The game I was playing was at 90fps, I was streaming at 60fps. Why was it lagging on the stream? I dont understand :s

I have 12~mbps upload, so I can't imagine that's an issue..

I tried playing cod 4+ crysis 3, both were laggy as hell.. I don't understand why. even with crysis 3 on LOWEST settings.. And it seemed as if my second graphics card wasn't kicking in. (SLI is enabled, I double checked, but one card was like 55 celsius and the other was only 38)

But yesterday w/o livestreaming I was playing crysis 3 5760x1080 at absolute max settings, with 60 + fps so I don't get what the problem is lol

did you try allocating only the hyperthreaded cores to xsplit?

the game and xsplit could be fighting over the physical cores.

it's your CPU then, it has to process the video and game.

Do you know how to do that? Oh here's a link http://www.twitch.tv/darrenlays/b/419795524 Go to like.. 2 Minutes or so.

EDIT: for the cod 4, go to like 8 mins

Also I need to change my mic settings later and get that sorted out when I finally start streaming.

How is it that a 3930k can't keep up with that? Is that like a SERIOUS amount of stress?

ummmm.....don't feel stupid....sit down for this. :P

open task manager.

find xsplit in processes.

right click on xsplit.

there should be an option like "set affinity"

and allocate core #4,5,6,7 to xsplit.

then click apply/ok

if your on windows 8.

under task manager go to the details tab.

right click the xsplit option or options.

and click set affinity.

and allocate core #4,5,6,7 to xsplit.

then click apply/ok

Shouldn't their be 6 threads to allocate?

Edit: I've never had to do anything with the hyperthreading before so I'm just trying to figure all this crap out lol

streaming 1080p at 60 with a fast preset does take a lot of CPU power. Going from very fast to fast is around doubling the encoding the CPU has to do.

there should be 12.

i7 3930K has 6 cores and 12 threads.

games will use 4 cores.

xsplit can use anything.

so I'm advising that you allocate 2 physical cores and 2 logical cores to xsplit.

basically allocating a core i3 to streaming only.

feel free to allocate more, this just frees you up so that should you need to open more stuff you have the freedom to do so.

you can try very fast and see if it will help which I think I might and try lowering the FPS from 60 to 45 and see if that will help. Try faster since you went from very fast to fast which is a two preset skip and since you have an 3930k it should be able to handle that.

I can stream on fast/medium with lower tier games, but the higher ones like crysis 3 it falls behind it seems. on 720p @ 60fps it has no issues, but 1080p it really starts falling behind, so I'll try faster. Thanks :D
