Transferring old HDD to 'new' computer

Go to solution Solved by Arty,

It is SATA connection. But do i need to reset my hard drive. There is now windows 7 and i dont have the (production?) key code for it and i'm going to install windows 8 there.

you can't "reset" a hard drive, you can format, don't install 8 install 8.1 on install it will wipe hard drive for you, unless you wanna keep personal stuff then choose that option

Hey,

I'm buying new mobo and cpu. If it makes any difference new components are Intel Pentium G3258 and MSI Z97 PC Mate and the old ones were Q6600 and P5K Premium.

My hard drive is old regural HDD. Do I need to reset or reformat or something my hard drive?  There isn't any important files, so it wont be a problem if I have to. It is my only hard drive, so if have to reset it (or something like that) how can I do it?  :D Also installing windows again, isn't problem, I have windows 8 on disc.
