I ran Prime95 for about 12 hours not overclocked and the highest recorded temperature was 41 C. This is a lot better than before where it was at 59 C after about maybe not even an hour or so. Do you think this is good enough for overclocking for 4.8 Ghz?

No one can tell for sure. Probably not, since the best CPUs are being binned by AMD to be used as 9590s. More realistically, 4.5GHz will be your goal. And again, every processor is different, silicone lottery my man.

Amd has been binning for the 9590 for a long time now. Every once in a while someone might find one that goes to 5.0ghz or higher but it is unlikely. 4.8 is a good overclock for a 8350. 4.6-4.7 seems to conservatively be the average overclock on that chip. But it's going to be different for everyone depending on your lottery and every other minute detail specific for your scenario.

I've been playing with my overclock today and and it seems to freeze almost immediately after starting Prime95. So i lowered the voltage from 1.5 to 1.59500 and the lowered the ratio from 24 to 23.5 and then again to 23 and now it seems to run no issues what so ever. Did I get a bad CPU or is this a normal thing?
