CPU overheating troubles

Go to solution Solved by legendnb,

its a laptop so its kinda hard to replace a cooler

how long have it been since you did some maintenance work?

either bring to a laptop fixing service, or you can do yourself,

  1. remove the back panel of the laptop to access the cpu,
  2. remove the heat sink, and clean off the thermal paste off the heatsink and chip,
  3. clean the heat sink fan/ all the fans
  4. reapply the thermal paste
  5. put everything back

i dont just play minecraft i play other games as well

i know my laptop is going to break soon it is at least 4 years old

you'll be able to play those other games on that aswell... a 4 year old laptop isn't going to be better than a 400$ pc now....

doesnt v sync make the gpu/ cpu work harder?

No, it doesn't make the hardware work harder. V-Sync exists as a way to limit frame rate to your monitor's refresh rate to reduce tearing. As a result though, it induces extra latency which is why many gamers leave it off. You also have technologies like G-Sync and soon FreeSync that allow for a tear free experience with no additional latency and stutter(from V-Sync).

thanks for the help to those who gave it.

Jellepepe and KayTees you guys didnt help at all you guys just patronised me.

you can actually get a pc capable of running mincraft at comfterable fps and resolution for as little as 350$-400$

to get back to the issue, if you feel the laptop itself, does it feel really hot? it might just be the temp reader that somehow broke... if it is actually getting this hot, i'd advice you to replace the thermal paste, either by opening it yourself and cleaning the existing off with a cloth drenched in alcohol and applying a small dot of high quality thermal compound, or by taking it to a local hardware repair shop (though not all shops will do this for you..)

lol no i didn't help

if you don´t get more than 60fps, yes.

If you get more, it´ll help alot.

V-Sync does not make the hardware work harder. It exists as a way to limit frame rate. If your hardware is incapable of producing 60FPS, it simply won't occur.
