The best water coolers in the world don't prevent dust from collecting on their components.  My biggest problem has been dust and it brought about the demise of my last motherboard and CPU due to my having to open the system and remove components to clean them.  Are there such things as filters and if so why don't all cooling discussions mention the use of filters?  Thanks.  ajlaw01

heya,

um, yeah. most modern decent cases these days come with filters on all fan intakes. you can buy filters from online shops if your case doesn't have them. I also recommend using compressed air to clean out any dust inside your case monthly at least  ^_^

Do you mean somthing like this?

If your case doesn't come natively with fan filters, those should decrease the amount of dust in your case :) If you wanna take it a bit futher you can make sure to have possitive pressure in your case. So that is doesn't draw in dust through the gaps between panels.

You can't prevent dust unless you're in a closed system, your best bet would be a water cooled case with the rad outside, and pretty much close every hole in your case.

But everything could overheat.

Yup, the VRM modules and chipset heatsink might struggle if there is little or no ventilation to dissipate the heat
