The aftermarket thermal paste is unnecessary--the H60 comes with decent preapplied paste.

What's the system being used for?

Is the optical drive really necessary? Why Win7 instead of 8.1?

Okay so no thermal paste. Im mainly going to be using the system for gaming and school. And id like to have an optical drive, I have more experience downloading a OS on a drive rather than USB and its nice to have the blu ray reader for movies if i ever need it. Finally I chose 7 because I find 8 and 8.1 unnecessary considering im going to be playing games most of the time, not looking at the backdrop or using the start menu features. Also Im using 7 now and I personally like it better. And thanks ThyFeared. How about the Samsung 840 EVO 120GB?

Do you already have a copy if Win7 lying around? 8.1 is better than 7 if you're going to buy a new OS. You'd also need to spend quite a bit more for a bluray reader: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/lg-optical-drive-uh12ns30

Better: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sNXqVn

I used a copy of windows 7 that my friend let me borrow for the build i had before the one im using now. The one I have currently is prebuilt and I honestly dont like it as much as the one i built. Thats why im planning another one. Also how is this build better than the one I had? Im now doubting that its not better just wondering.

It's much better in almost every way. There isn't any aftermarket cooling for the cpu cooler in the list I recommended but you can still add it if you really want to: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/nzxt-cpu-cooler-rcrst4001
