Hey, I made a thread a while back asking if an 8350 would bottleneck 290X crossfire. The first answer would be yes, but I forgot to mention that I play at 4K. Speaking 4K barely uses the CPU, is it really a bottleneck?

Probably not, but there's so little benchmarks with similar configurations that it's hard to say for sure. I guess what you could do to try and test this is disable half your cores and play a heavily threaded game like BF4, and see if it bottlenecks your current 290x at 4k (not sure if this is how it works, just a thought).

RIP in pepperonis m8s

yea sadly :/ all of the 4K benchmarks have like 6 core i7s and stuff like that haha

It comes with the usual AMD FX caveats. Some games, even at 720p don't run at 60fps and the min. framerate can be very low.

But 720p needs CPU more lol, that's the point of the thread silly :P

I'm saying, the framerate will be the same regardless. If at 720p you cannot attain 60fps, at no resolution will you reach it.

Like this game for example;

Or this game;

Framerates average below 60fps on 720p/1080p. Meaning you will not have a smooth 60fps experience at 4K even if you throw in 8 GPU's (hypothetically).
