So I have a Samsung 840 Pro and I want to configure it as my boot drive. Is it a good Idea to put some of my favorite applications (Browser and CS:GO) on it as well? Or will this affect my TBW too much? Also, is the performance decrease proportional to the TBW?

Thanks guys!

You need to fill it up real hard to decease performance and TBW written only really matters at high levels

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

The SSD is for the OS and most used apps, so go ahead.

You have to fill it up close to the max to encounter decreased speeds.

Alright thanks guys! I will be attempting to install Windows on my SSD now ;)

Quick question: Since my HDD is currently  named "C:" but I'm going to be using my SSD ("D:"), is there any way to swap the letters smoothly?

Sure! Putting there just the OS alone won't give you much - applications and favorite game(s) is the key!

Edit: Drive letters are just a Windows thing, so when you reinstall it, they will swap automatically.

Hey SilentKiller,

SSDs are great for storing your OS and more used programs (and pretty much everything else, they work just as normal HDDs and SSHDs). AS it was mentioned, it is recommended that you leave about 15% free for ultimate performance.
After installing your OS on it, it will be assigned the letter C and, depending if you have an optical drive or not, your HDD will be given the letter D or E. You can always change that from Disk Management, as mentioned, letters are only for Windows to arrange its drives.
do have in mind that most games rely on storage only for their loading times and FPS and graphics stay unaffected, regardless if you put them on the SSD or on the HDD.

Happy Holidays!
