You have probably have seen this but for gpus<=7950 performance the i3 is an excellent choice , at that point the extra 70 bucks or so for an i5 inst that worth it , of course if you can afford it go right ahead.

 

The i3 starts to peter out on faster gpus , but should be fine up and until a 7950.

 

i3 + r9 280/270 is a very common build.

Well, turns out I didn't make the wrong choice after all going with an i3 and an HD7950...

yeah its the sweet spot for optimal performance for the i3.

After that results may vary.

im runing far cry 3 with one and its so  freacking fast , the dual core in the specs of the i3 is what scares people ,

when you start seeing the benchmarks is when you realize what an awesome gaming cpu it is.
