GPU no signal

Go to solution Solved by TheGeekster,

I think, if I'm not wrong, that in your BIOS it's set to use the integrated graphics as the display device first, you'll have to go into the bios and find that setting, normally on the advanced page.

Are you sure you got the motherboard right? That seems to be a server motherboard?  (Probably why by default, it's set to integrated graphics only)

My brother just got a new graphics card which meant he was going to need a new power supply to run in so we got a corsair CX750M and the graphics card is a GTX 780 it took a while to get it all running but eventually the computer saw it and it is working fine and can be seen in the device manager with the latest drivers however once we plug in VGA or HDMI to the Graphics card and turn on the computer we get no signal and it doesnt change you can just hear it booting up as usual the only way we can get the moniter to see the computer is by using the onboard graphics.

My specs:

CPU: i7 920

Power Supply: CX750M

GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 780

Motherboard: Supermicro x8sti

Ram: 2x4gb G.Skill

Thanks in advance...

I agree with the geekster, but if that fails make sure the card is seated properly I had the same problem with my gtx 670 they are heavy, when i installed it laying on it's side it worked just fine after standing my case up and plugging everything back in Wham no video, I freaked and started going through everything, Well pulled the pc out layed it down plugged it up bamm video, put it back up no video shut it down press on the card fired it up  everything was fine, so I guessed it just jiggled around some when moving the pc around . Good luck

So we did as you said and the splash screen came up and it ran well but when we got to the windows login page the computer then restarted so we tried again and it happened again after a couple of restarts we did it once more and the graphics card started going a lot quicker it then quietened down and restarted...

do you have any ideas?

Graphics cards can spin up to 100% fan speed when initially turned on, then slowly adjusts down to their normal temperature speeds.

Can you boot the system into safe mode? (Press F8 repeatedly after bios if you have windows 7) Then uninstall any drivers installed for the graphics card, then reboot and install them again in normal mode?

So I did this but after I re-installed the drivers it just started restarting at the same point again once I'd deleted the drivers it let me on windows but then when installing on normal mode after restart it just did it again
