windows 8 vs. windows 8.1

So I have been looking for a wireless internet adapter that supports windows 8.1. And whenever I find one, in the title it says supports windows vista/7/8/8.1, leading me to believe that 8.1 and 8 would not be compatible with each other, but then when I look in the description it says only compatible with windows vista/7/8 but it doesn't say 8.1, which confuses me very much, I'm sure you csan see why I am confused. So can someone please clear this up with me?
