After 6 months of building I think I'm finally done, at least until I decide whether to attempt water cooling.  Love to hear comments or suggestions, I think I got it fully loaded up tho.   Currently running Win 8.  OS is on the M.2 SSD and the Apps are running of the two 850 Pros in Raid 0.  Here are the specs:

Case:           Corsair 860T

CPU:            Intel i7-4790K

MB:              Asus z97 Maximus Formula VII

RAM:           Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133MHz 4x4 GB w/custom red light bar

GPU:           MSI Gaming GTX 980

PSU:           Corsair AX860i

CPU Block: Swifttech H220X w/custom RoG Plate

SSD 1 OS:  Samsung XP941 256GB

SSD 2 App: 2 x Samsung 850 Pro 256GB (running in Raid 0)

HDD 1:        WD Velociraptor 600GB (used for local file transfers)

HDD 2:        WD Black 4TB

LEDs:          IceModz Case LED kit

Cabling:      Red/Black cables from ModDIY

Here are some pix with different colours.  Sorry the red doesn't come out as well as it should, it looks blood red.

Plans for the future is to watercool the CPU and GPU, tho I'm trying to find a good backplate for the MSI GPU as it doesn't come with one.  Probably will get at 360mm Rad for the top and 240mm for the front.  I'd like a cylinder reservior with D5 pump.  Would love to go acrylic but being this would be my first watercool build, it might be a bit too advanced for me.  I'll end up dumping the Swifttech rad and hoses but will keep the CPU block.

That is about it.  Thanks for viewing/commenting.

ModDIY helped me out with those.

The Velociraptor is a HDD from an old build. Wife likes me to download lots of stuff for her so I use that to store them on and she can grab it while I save my SSDs.

Okay imo with the lighting white light would have worked out better parts wise good i will rate it a 6/10 if it was white light i would have given it a 10

The LEDs for whatever reason do not have a pure white setting.  The closest they get is a white with bluish tint, but I agree with you a fully white lit  case would really make the red pop out.

What is the cost?

I'd give it a 8.5

8 for the off the shelf case and 4790k

.5 for the GTX 980.

10 = 5960x

9-5820k

Well best I could do with this level of i7.  I won't divulge cost but it was a pretty penny.

I just got information on a back plate for the MSI after all, with a red dragon logo on a black glossy finish.

Nice build, looks like you put in some effort.

Thank you, it has been a work of love or obsession.

See I just bought my friend a new PC today at Microcetner and I got a X99-5820k because it was only 200-300 extra over 4790k.

When I was paying for the purchase, I asked the cashier to rate it and he gave it a 9/10, lol

We all know how much cashiers know :)  Seriously I do appreciate the rating and it is a nice setup you have.  If I had gotten the lowest end of the  x99, with lowest end memory you are right it would have been 200-300, but after pricing out what i would have wanted with higher end stuff it was a lot more :)

Well with X99, unless you are doing movie editing there is no reason to go for the 5960X. 5930k is the same performance as the 5820k once OC'd. And minimum ram is basically 4x4GB for the quad channel bandwidth.

Corsair DDR3 ram is hella overpriced and the same cost as DDR4 ram

Likewise your mobo is hella overpriced and really expensive for Z97.

So it's essentially you could have spent the exact same amount of money and got a x99-5820k system which would be 20% faster. (assuming you live close to a Microcenter)

If i paid full price for those items, I would say you are right.  The Mobo I won in a local computer contest.  The Ram, yeah it is overpriced, but then anything Corsair Dominator you are paying for the look more than the performance, plus I got a reasonable price on it so i'm happy.  About the only thing I paid full price was the GPU and the RoG Swift monitor but that was because they were one of the first ones available here in Canada when they went live.  I'm happy with it all. :)  You are right about me not needing the extra cores tho.
