Razer Software...

Go to solution Solved by STRMfrmXMN,

I've actually REALLY wanted the Naos 7000 for a while, but held off when I saw some bad reviews about how the scroll wheel stopped working after a year and isn't as comfortable as it looks. Because it looks really comfortable, and the scroll wheel is a key component of what I do. Logan from Tek_Syndicate gave it a good review, so I think it might be okay. It also has 4 stars on Amazon where most of the 1-star-reviews are just Amazon specific problems.

Do you think it's worth the go?

I say so. Maybe buy an extended warranty or something along those lines?

Backstory:

I recently got the Logitech G402 mouse for Christmas, which is fine since i wished for it. My local tech store isn't to happy about letting costumers "try-before-they-buy", so when I asked, they rushed me. Because of that, I didn't get enough time to make a proper conclusion/impression.

I have it now and it's awful! Does Logitech want me to amputate my ring finger? There's no place for it to rest! And that's not even impractical and uncomfortable button layout, terrible scrollwheel, unnesecarry seams/spacing, etc!

To the point:

Before this abomination of a mouse, I used the original Razer Deeathadder and loved it!

So of course I'm going back, and I think I want to buy a Deathadder Chroma. REally the only thing keeping me back is the software. I remember Synapse being really bad when it first got out, is this still case?

I also read something about the Deathadder needing internet 24/7 to work? is this also true?

Generally a pros and cons on the Chroma would be nice. :P

First, about Synapse, it's much better than it used to be.

Second, do not buy a *recent* Razer product if you want at least halfway decent build quality.

Third, you should get a Zowie EC1 if you want something like a Deathadder.

And I do not know of any mouse needing the internet to work. Maybe Synapse does but the mouse itself should work 24/7 without the software.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Did they degrade on the build quality? I remember seeing a lot of people with the original Deathadder being "5 years and still going strong".

I'll keep the Zowie in mind, any other suggestions?

The build quality has gone down in recent years and it was never really great to begin with. Older ones seem to last awhile though. Most mice don't usually last longer than 5 years and you can find great old DAs.

But besides that Zowie mouse, I guess the only one I can think of is the older Logitech G400 (not the s version as there are some mouse accel problems apparently). These two mice are often compared to eachother. The only thing about the fact that the clicking action is very, very lackluster to me.

There's also a variety of mice from Mionix which I recommend you check out http://mionix.net/mice/

Not really a possibility, sadly... I guess I'm doing it then. Even if it breaks after a year of service, there might be more reliable and overall better products on the market by then :P
