Ok, so I've tried Google, and it didn't help at all.

I've seen a lot of terms on the interwebs like "otaku", "hipster", "gamer", "geek", and the list goes on.

Now I'm trying to find how many of those terms there are, but here's the problem. I don't know if those terms refer to a group of people or types of people.

I can't seem to find a list of all of them, and I think that's because I can't find the right term to search for them.

Anyone know how many of these are? And what are these?

it usually means types of people in a group with similar ideology & interests & hobbies & others , basically identical behaviors of different personalities in a predictable behavior pattern, eg: the term "geeks" often compared to book worm, computer savvy & not very good at social skills, self centered people & hipsters are often compared or tagged as people that does things that might be retro or buy/spend on over hyped things in others view that is silly but they find it cool(eg:iphone/starbucks/mac book pro, thick frame glasses) . basically it's just random stereotyping

Details separate people.

Wikipedia have a pretty good list of different subcultures http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_subcultures

I can give the once you listed my best try, but I can't gurantee that it will be correct.

  • Otaku: A person that is into different kinds of Japanese subculture. Be they anime/manga, games, card games, idols etc. I am not sure if it also applies to more traditional cultur.
  • Hipster: A person that rejects the normal mainstream cultur. Can closely related to the straight edge culture with it's progressive political views
  • Gamer: I have a hard time defining this one aswell. Usually it referes to a person that plays games, but also take part in other parts of gaming, like doing reviews, discussing games etc.
  • Geek: This one has two meanings (to my knowledge There might be more) 1. A person that is really into a given subject. That could be a field of science, math, gaming, music etc 2. A lable that is put on people that are of a somewhat secluded nature, but might have all around interests.
