Hi, So i need to "move" my router. Its in a room where it cannot reach my computer (Wifi or Ethernet [Not using wifi]) So I was wondering what would connecting 2 routers do? From my understanding it uses the base router as the global internet thing and acts seperately? I really don't know I just need ethernet in another room with out moving my main router.

I use powerline adapters to get internet access from my router on the other side of the house. You can pick them up pretty cheap now, and they're a lot less hassle than getting another router. Just plug and play.

How much slower is powerline than ethernet? I know that it is slower but I never found out How much slower

I would just go for a 5 port switch, the issue is the connection between the router and the switch.

Are you looking for a wireless connection between the two ?

Uhm.. Idk. I wireless meaning the two routers or switch and router? Cuz I just need ethernet in one room without having to move my router.

What he is trying to ask is this:

Can you run an ethernet cable from the original router into your room? Is that possible, or is that not possible?

That will determine whether you need to use an alternative, such as Wireless or Powerline Ethernet.

I didn't notice any difference what so ever from using the ethernet directly through the router and in my room via powerline. As long as you get some that allow decent bandwidth, and plug them directly into the wall and not through extension cables or power squids then you'll be fine.

Keep in mind that your experience is on the very optimal side of things. Powerline Ethernet can vary wildly, depending on the age and quality of the electrical lines in your house. It's worth a shot, but it might run like shit for the OP. If he lives in a newer home, or one that had the wiring redone recently, then he'll probably be fine though.
