Hi everyone,

I got a MSI Twin Frozer 280x OC edition today, only problem is it won't post, my motherboard stops with error code b2. If I have it in as a second graphics card and my old 7870 as the primary, it works ok, and catalyst control centre detects it, albeit as a deactivated card. But running it as the primary card yeilds nothing.

I've tried the little bios switch on the card in both positions, still nothing. Any thoughts? I'm using as asus maximus v gene board btw.

Thanks

Lewis.

does it boots in windows?

Try to upgrade drivers and catalyst for gpu,, and update anything mobo, .....

Update the BIOS to version 1.19.

There were two versions of P67A-GD65. One with updated chipset (B3 revision) and older one. Download the BIOS for your exact version:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-GD65--B3-.html#/?div...

or

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P67A-GD65.html#/?div=BIOS

If you don't know the chipset revision, use HWinfo to find out:

http://www.hwinfo.com/download.php

Use the MFlash method, as described here:

http://www.msi.com/service/biosupdate/

If it doesn't help try the newest - 4.3 - read the red warnings first for versions > 4.0; new windows drivers are needed, update procedure is different.

I've not got an MSI motherboard, its an Asus V-Gene motherboard, MSI 280x graphics card. And no, with the 280x as the primary card, it wont even post, let alone boot to windows, so it's definitely not a driver issue.

Accoring to sources, your GPU is DOA. I suggest trying it in another system before sending it back though.

Unfortunately I don't have another system to try it in, i'll have to send it back :(.

Got it off ebay, so it's probably spent the last year of it's life mining bitcoin or something and is now shot.

That is most likely the cause.
