Well it's 20-25 degrees Celcius at winter in Dubai over here, so....

I mean in the summer it skyrockets to around 40-50 degrees, but at least the A/C is brilliant so it stays at 20-25 indoors.

Am I the only person who doesn't really get how components can get so much cooler in the winter? :D

My build: tis be ordered

Nice one dude!

Anyone done some temporary Winter Overclocks?

I didn't really notice a drop yet again I am in a pretty well heated house so its normally the same temperature all year round inside only if I crack a window to do some overclocking for example last year I was able to push 1.6 volts on a amd 8350 on a h100i and get a few cinebench runs in. But other then that pretty much no change in temperature.

NH-D14, I have 3 120mm fans on my case always at 12V so it helps.

well, 2*c lower ambient. As long as you have decent airflow means 2 degree cooler computer.

as for me it's -10*c outside and i still have the windows open trying to get rid of some excess heat.

Maybe 5-8*c cooler than peak summer, otherwise it's pretty much the same.

CPU on load = 49*C

GPU on load = 49*C

Cpu is a 5820K @ 4ghz and GPU is a 970 OCd to 1455mhz on the core and +200mhz on the memory.

I just got this system in october so i can't say how it runs during summer, but my room was smokin' HOT when i had my 8350 @ 5.1ghz and an r9 290 @ 1300mhz core and +300mhz mem.

Trust me, when you live somewhere like Lillehammer or Aomori or New England and winter rolls around, you can start overclocking on a stock heatsink. It gets crazy cold in the north.

Well I've just got a steady 23 degrees average.

I may have no winter benefits, but at least I have no summer worries.

Can someone tell me some horror stories of overheating components in the summer (if you've got any?)

I...still don't get it. OC'ing with the stock heatsink :P

I have heard you can overclock the Pentium G3258 on stock cooler to around 4.0ghz or 4.2ghz fine. But probably just bullshit :P

I'm running windows 10, so HWmonitor is being a whiny little tool with compatibility errors. Intel EXTU is showing me idling at around 23°C with an ambient room temp of about 19°C. Bear in mind that that's with the case fans at 5V, and with itunes, filesystem and four firefox tabs open. Downscaling a 1080p video to 540p in Handbrake, the highest temp I got was 51°C, and it stayed at around 47°C most of the time.

This is at 4.5GHz. My fans aren't even set to start ramping up until it gets to 65°C. Tomorrow I think I'll leave the windows open and then we can get some real temperatures going.

Given the ridiculously low power requirements on the G3258 due to it being a Haswell and the fact that it only has two cores, so not a lot of heat output compared to say, my i7, which has four HT'd cores, I'd not be surprised to see figures close to those. You can certainly get a hefty overclock out of the box.
