What should I get?

Hi guys,

Hope you all had a good Christmas!

I have nearly run out of space on my ssd I have a 840 evo 128gb. I am not sure weather to get a new 128gb or a new 246 (or however big it is, the next size up).

Currently I am thinking the 128gb and using raid. But I can't remember what raids you can do with 2 drives.

for more space you can do raid-0.

i wouldt do it, just get a second drive.

Second, if you have the budget, you should buy a new 256gb evo. Just keep the 128gb one and add the 256gb one. You will have to manually install everything on the drive which has enough but you will get more storage.

Third, with 2 drives, you can do RAID0 and RAID1, linus has a great video on his teckquickie channel:

Are there any good tuts for setting up raid currently have no clue how to do it.

Go for the larger 256GB ssd, too many factors that you must be aware of:

 

• raid 0(usage of both drives as 1) requires that you reformat your existing drives to create the array where the data is stored if you do not have a backup drive you would need to purchase one as well.
• 2 different life spans, as one is used. this will significantly make raid 0 less stable. best to have new identical drives before creating a raid array.

the 256 you can just clone over and be ready to go, less hassle & more gaming.
