Crossfire help

Go to solution Solved by Godlygamer23,

hey everyone, so Int resting situation and need help.

so, just picked up a 7970 to crossfire with my 7950. because of my motherboard, and the size of the asus 7950, it hits my sata ports, so the 7950 needs to go in the top pci slot. that means the 7970 is the slave card I believe. this is okay because the 7950 is heavily OC'd to match the 7970.

now the issue is the 7950 is running at 16x, and the 7970 is running at 4x. is there a way to change so both run at 8x/16x? both are in a 16x slot. Because right now, most of the time the 7970 isnt being used, or my fps is worse then a single card.

thanks!

What board do you have? The slot may be x16 in length but x4 electrically. Also, the 7970 becomes a 7950 effectively when they're Crossfired together.

edit: yeah, looks like its x4. but that still should give 94% performance. not bad

The second slot is wired for x4 operation.
