Adding not matching RAM

Go to solution Solved by TheKDub,

Can i put it in any open slot or do i have to find in the manual which slot should be accupied first?

Any open slot.

Just remember that if you add ram that is slower than the other ram or faster than the other ram, it will all run at the speed of the slowest dimm.

Hey guys.

I have a question. My motherboard is Gigabyte Z68ap-d3. I have 4 ram slots and 2 of them are occupied by 4GB Kingston HyperX 1600mhz sticks that are running at 1333 because my CPU doesn't support more.

My question is: Can i put in 1 stick of 2GB Patriot 1333mhz ram? Will it work and more important: is it going to damage anything?

Thanks
