Nothing really, slightly cooler chips because of thermal design and slightly better over clocking. Clocked for clock they are the same chips. The 4790k boosts to 4.4ghz which is nice because it's pretty much guaranteed 4.4ghz. Most people can hit 4.5 minimum. Opposed to 4.3ghz minimum on a 4770k

Hello.

What is the difference btw Intel Core i7 4790K code name Haswell and code name Devils canyon?

Thank you for replying.  :)

Although, just to point it out, 4790K is always Devils Canyon. 4770K is plain Haswell.

With all 4 cores going though you top out at 4.2 in adaptive mode. You have to actually wrestle mobos into putting all 4 cores above that on full load. I find MSI's gaming series boards to be the worst offenders at making overclocking difficult and inconsistent. But I can't complain too much. The old man's made it to 5.14 stable 6 hours on IBT.
