Hi. (1st post, yay! Sorry about my english)

Since november i started to think about buying a new PC, because my old is going to well deserved retiring (E7300, hd 4870 etc.) and i have a dilemma. Should i go with FX-8350 and R9 290/GTX 970 (gtx if i will find extra cash) or should i go with i5-4440(4460) and r9 280x or wait for GTX 960 and previously mentioned i5. If third option is worthy for waiting, i'll wait. Other components have solid position on my list and i dont wanna change them. Price range of new PC: about 2500-3000 PLN (650-750 euro). PC will be mostly for gaming. Overclocking? Rather not.

i5 is the way to go. You can go ahead and buy the 280x or find a 970 cheap somewhere. Waiting for the 960 may or may not be fruitful since there are no solid details on lower end cards in the 900 series as of now. Plus following a fresh launch of GPUs, prices will be high. So a 280x is the best bang for your money till any 20nm cards appear, and that is not going to happen very soon.
