Ok, so I recently upgraded toa Gigabyte 280x, and it woroked for a couple days, then I started getting errors saying the drivers have stopped responding and have recovered, and or DirectX errors.

Windows 8.1 64bit

My specs: FX-6300

Gigabyte 280x

Biostar TA-970 mobo

8gb of ram

1tb hd

Nothing is currently been overclocked, temps are all fine on everything. I have tried other versions of drivers, the beta drivers, and fully unisntalled them before each installation using Display Driver Uninstaller. I only get the error when I try to play games. I have no idea what the problem is, and feel like I have tried everything that can be found with a google search. Note: I also previously had an nvidia card installed, but uninstalled those drivers as well. Hopefully I can find a fix, I don't want to regret moving to AMD, and don't plan on switching back.

My Rig: AMD FX-6300, Gigabyte Windforce 280x, 8GB Adata XPG 1866 Mhz

Coming soon  : Two Kuhler 650's, one on the cpu, the other paired witha Kraken G10

Did you make sure to COMPLETELY uninstall the drivers to the GPU you had before to do a fresh install for the 280x? This could be the issue.

Before I installed the 280x, no. I only realized it could be apossible issue and uninstalled it completely after the porblem arose.

I know it isn't the best psu, is a problem in itself, and will replace it asap, but is that honestly the source of this problem?

yes it does

that PSU is not providing enough power for your GPU when you start gaming

Huh. I was under the impression that it would only draw ~450w under load, at least based on pcpartpicker, I do have an extra 450w I could try to strap to the 280x and nothing else, and use the 630 for the rest of the system to see if that is the problem.

you could try that but how you are gonna link the 2 PSUs together is out of my league

Not linking two psu's together, but plugging the 450 in, running the 8 and 4 pins to the gpu, and leaving everything else on the 630. It should give plenty of power for one 280x, and let me know whether or not the power supply is the problem. (Kinda hoping it is because that = forcing myself to get a new one  :P )
