USB 3.0 not working

Go to solution Solved by jnmbhj,

I found how to fix this issue.

First download the driver

then extract the drivers,

go to device manager and look for the 3 unidentified device

then right click on one of the unidentified device and select update driver software.

Then click Browse my computer for driver software. and it should end like this  "Asmedia_USB3_XPVistaWin7-8-81_VER116120\Driver"

and click next then it would stay ASMedia XHCI controller.

And do it for the other 2 unless you have more usb 3.0.

Each controller can control 2 USB 3.0 ports

My motherboard has 6 usb 3.0 ports (4 in the back and 2 in the front) Therefore I have 3 controllers.

I hope this might help other people that might have the same issue.

I am not sure why but my USB 3.0 is not working. I have tried to install the latest drivers but it appears that it cannot be installed. (it prompts me to give access but nothing pops up.) Everything else is updated to the latest.

I have tried to run it as admin but same result

has it worked before if not check if the cable is plugged into the usb 3.0 pin connector on your motherboard

Yes I have tried that but I also tried connecting it to my motherboard. It still doesnt work as well. Tried it with 2 different 30 pin usb connector and tried all the ports on the back of my motherboard.

Do the 4 3.0 USB ports on your backpanel work? And if they do, the cable for the USB 3.0 ports on the front for your case is that in the proper slot for it?

Apart from that, check here for drivers for the USB controllers. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R20/HelpDesk_Download/

I tried connecting it to each of the the back plate directly to the motherboard and it did not work. And yes I tried downloading the drivers from that website and it did not load.

Did you fool around in the BIOS a bit and might have done something there that it might have turned the USBs off?

And for the record the 2.0 usb ports work?

Never seen this issue before.

Yea I know, its something rare. Usb 2.0 works just fine and I have checked bios and there is not option to enable or disable usb 3.0.

Perhaps when you installed the drivers in the first place they got corrupted. I would recommend uninstalling the from device manager, just to see if that makes a change. For instructions on how to accomplish this, check here. Tell me what happens once you do this and restart your computer

Having seen quite a few strange driver issues during my time, I'd still recommend doing the steps listed above. It won't hurt the computer if done properly and has a good chance of fixing it.

This was one of the more difficult ones. As deleting the drivers didn't do much and when reloaded it still could not be found.
