 Hi guys.

So when I turned on my desktop today, I got the limited network sign. I am using Powerline, so it showed as Ethernet, just as usual. I had the powerline adaptors unplugged, since I moved my PC to another room for a day, and then back again in the old place where it used to work perfectly.

So here is what I have tried to do so far:
- Restarting and replugging everything.
- Used Wi-Fi on the same, as well as another computer, to test if it worked (it did on both devices)
- Using an Ethernet cable directly from the modem/router to a laptop (worked)
- Re-pairing the two powerline adaptors several times (showed on the indicator lights that both were connected, just not transfering any data

Do you guys have any suggestions to what I can do to solve my problem?

MAKE SURE that the powerline adapters are NOT plugged into a power strip / surge protector.  Since they worked before, make sure that they are plugged into the same outlets as they were before.  Has there been any electrical wiring changes in your house since they worked previously?  The reason i ask, I had an issue with a customer who added an additional electrical service to their house and the powerline adapters must be on the same electrical service to work properly.  Hope this helps!

Thanks for the answer!

None of the powerline adapters are plugged in to a power strip, both are directly placed in the wall just as they were before I unplugged them. And yes, it's the exact same outlets as they were plugged into as before! They worked the 20th of December when I used them last time, then I moved my PC to another room where I held a LAN.. There all 4 guys that used the internet, used ethernet cables, no powerline etc. When I moved the desktop back at the 21st, it gave me limited network and has done the same all day today as well.

When I run a troubleshoot on the ethernet connection, it says this: "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration". I'm thinking that we need to search for a solution around the IP then?

If you have a limited connection the power line adaptors are not the problem as it is connected to the network. You would want to check if the router is connecting to the internet, check any lights or it might also be displayed on it's webpage

Hi Munchen,

The way that I understand the limited icon on windows is that it can reach the gateway device but not past it.

Could you try the following commands and paste the output here.

ipconfig /allarp -a

I would like to know if you are even getting the mac address of the default gateway(router)
